Preassessment: Weather and Winds Unit: 4th Science
B1: 12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills
B2: Continue with lessons and encourage growth while teaching the key points and offereing connections to the weather by taking pictures of the outside and allowing students to make connections to topics
BB1: Students who are funtioning at level and not improving
BB2: Students will be given a section of the book to read about and allowed to create a presentation on the weather phenomenon that they might have heard about to allow classmates to understand the weather better.
BC1: Students are struggling to grasp key points and are starting behind
Move to CB2:
BA1: Students who are beginning to exceed expectations
Move to AB2:
A1: 5 students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly
A2: Give an extension allowing students to predict weather based on their previous knowledge and explain their reasoning to the class.
AB1: Students are continuing to exceed expectations but are not going above and beyond
AB2: Students will continue will look into the 5 day forecast to see if they can predict what signs will be seen as an indicator of the upcoming weather
AC1: Students are doing well but are not grasping the advanced concepts that are being proposed
Move to BB2:
AA1: Students are continuing to exceed and are going above and beyond when it comes to doing their work.
AA2: Students will be allowed to research a weather phenomenon that will not be addressed in class and will be given the opprotunity to explain it to their peers and teach the lesson along with the teacher, allowing them to feel a sense of pride in explaining their knowledge
C1: 5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic, of which 3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels and 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the the topic and need to be tested further for special needs
C2: Teach the key points and offer extra supports as well as ensuring the students are included by giving them background information they may need to know.
CB1: Students functioning below level but progressing
CC3 & CB2: Allow the students to look at the previous weeks forecast and allow them to speculate what weather, winds, or other events may have effected the weather to create what we saw in the last week
CC1: Students struggling with language and key points and not progressing
CC2: Give additional support and ensure that the student understands the key concepts while monitoring the students to make sure that they are getting the information they need
CA1: Students progressing and starting to function on or above level
