Digestive System and Dentition
Oesophagus
The oesophagus is an important part of the digestive system. It is the tube that's connected in your throat. Its job is to transport food that has been broken down and turned into "Bolus" - Food that has been chewed and mixed in the mouth with the saliva.
Small Intestine
The small intestine is a hollow tube that runs from the stomach to the beginning of the large intestine. It job is to absorb all the nutrients you get from the food you eat into the bloodstream.
Stomach
The stomach is a bean-shaped, hollow muscular organ that takes food from the oesophagus, mixes and breaks it down into small portions then passing it to the small intestine.
Large Intestine
The large intestines purpose is to absorb water, salt, minerals and remaining nutrients from your food. It will then change into leftover waste into a bowel movement called "Stool".
Liver
The liver's main job is to process the nutrients absorbed from the small intestine. It absorbs fat and transform into a digestive juice called "Bile" and into the bloodstream.
Rectum
The rectum is a straight 8-inch chamber that connects the colon to the anus. Its job is to receive stool from the colon (a part of the large intestine) and send signals the body when the waste is going to come out.
Anus
The anus is the opening at the far end of the digestive tract. After the process that happens in the large intestine, the last thing that is needed to get done is to let the waste out of the body. The anus then takes place because it is its job.
Dentition is the arrangement of teeth linking to the foods eaten.
Herbivore eats only plants.
Molars is the teeth at the back of the mouth that grinds food.
Incisors are the teeth are the front of the mouth used for biting and butting food.
Canines are the fang-like teeth that rip and tear food.
Carnivore eats only meat.
Omnivore eats both plants and meat.
