Agatha Christie
-born in Devon, England on 15th September 1890
-youngest of three children in a wealthy family
-as a child she never attended school
-she was taught at home by a governess and tutors
-studied the piano and music in Paris and later turned to writing
-during the First World War, Agatha worked as a nurse
-she came up with the idea of writing a detective novel
-in the hospital she learned a lot about drugs and poisons
-first novel was published in 1920
-main character was a Hercule Poirot
-she used this information in her novels
-most popular novels were Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile
-1926
-Archie asked for a divorce
-Agatha feeling lost and upset suddenly disappeared
-she was found in a small hotel
-she explained to the police that she had lost her memory
--her second marriage was to Max Mallowan
-young archaeologist whom she met on a trip to Baghdad
-they got married in 1930
-well-known character is Miss Jane Murple
-old lady who solved mysteries with her sharp mind and intuition
-Christie wrote over 70 novels
-some of her novels have been made into successful films
-she is the most popular mystery writer of all time
-Agatha Christie died on 12th January 1976, at the age of 85
