Independent Variable:
The factor that is changed in an experiment.
Hypothesis:
A proposed explanation for an observation.
Polyoestrous:
Undergoing multiple oestrous cycles.
Hybrid Vigour:
An increased productivity displayed in offspring from genetically different parents.
Zero Grazing:
Animals housed year-round and food brought to them.
Sponging:
Placing a progesterone impregnated sponge into a sheep's vagina.
Remove it after 12 days, the sheep should then come into oestrous (heat) 2 days later.
Flushing:
The process by which ewes are move from a low plane of nutrition to a high plane of nutrition prior to mating.
This encourages ovulation.
Raddling Harness:

Prolificacy:
In sheep this is calculated as the number of lambs reared per ewe mated.

An animal (Such as a cow or sheep) which have four compartments to their stomach.
E.g. The rumen, the reticulum, the omasum, and the abomasum.
Chitting (Sprouting):
Exposing a potato to sunlight so that they develop shoots.
