- - - - After James died Charles I became the King of England. He also wanted money from the Parliament which he didn't get and then he started to put taxes and fines on the English citizens. He disbanded the Parliament hoping he wouldn't have to call it in session again. He was fearful of the protestants because they had very specific moral beliefs and tried to exert control over religion in Scotland, where the descendant of John Calvin, John Knox was.
        
        The Scots were very angry and thy raised an army and defined the King. Charles had to summon the Parliament again, but they weren't interested in helping him. Charles then arrested 5 of his opponents, the country erupted in a civil war. Eventually the King was overwhelmed and surrendered. In 1649 he was sentenced to death and publicly beheaded.
  - - - The Catholics
        When Elizabeth's old half-sister became queen, she was determined to turn England into a Catholic country. Elizabeth was Protestant, so she was imprisoned in the tower of London. After all, after Mary's death, Elizabeth took the throne at age 25, returning England to Protestantism. Later Mary was executed by Elizabeth as a threat to the throne.
      - In 1588, after the death of Mary, a new danger appeared. The Catholic king Philip II of Spain launched an invasion of England to restore Catholicism and remove Elizabeth from the throne by launching the Spanish Armada. Then the Queen of England made a speech in front of her soldiers, saying that she may look like a weak woman, but she has the stomach and heart of a king of England. In this superior battle, England won and the Spanish Armada was forced to retreat to Scotland.
