FORMAL VOCABULARY
Use formal vocabulary, avoid idiomatic vocabulary
Numbers from 1 to 10 should be written in words, measurements should be in number
FORMAL VERBS
Avoid multi-word verbs
Ex: get better - improve , talk about - discuss
FULL FORM OF VERBS
Avoid contradictions
Ex: Can't - Can not , Don't - Do not
FORMAL GRAMMAR STRUCTURES
Avoid using too many simple sentences
Combine the sentences to a more academic sentences of complex or compound sentences
STATEMENTS
Avoid using questions
Questions is fine in presentations but not common in academic writing
IMPERSONAL PHRASES
Avoid personal pronouns
Avoid adverbs
BE PRECISE
Avoid vague words
Use exact figures
Use precise words
TENTATIVE LANGUAGE
Avoid absolute statements
Rather than always or will, use word such as may, might probably and etc.
CITE SOURCES
Avoid vague claims
Phrases without sources are not considered very academic
APPROPRIATE TRANSITIONS
Avoid bullets
Avoid numbering
Avoid basic transitions
