What are proteins?Proteins or protids are macromolecules made up of linear chains of amino acids.
Proteins make up about half the weight of the body's tissues, and are present in all cells of the body
They are composed of:
Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen
The functions are:
Construction and repair of bones and muscles, skin, nails.
They are atibodies that defend us from bacteria.
They maintain the internal pH balance.
They allow muscle contraction.
They grant elasticity and resistance to organs and tissues.
They participate in the proper functioning of the nervous system.
They provide energy.

They are especially necessary in people who are of growing age, also in pregnant women, since they make possible the production of new cells.
Types of proteins:
Animal proteins: They are meat, fish, eggs, dairy, etc.
