muscular dystrophy

The absence of a protein called dystrophin, which is necessary for normal muscle function, causes this damage and weakness.
Walking, swallowing, and muscle coordination problems can be caused by the absence of this protein.
multiple sclerosis
A potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system) is multiple sclerosis (MS).
The immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) in MS, which covers nerve fibres and causes problems with communication between your brain and the rest of your body.
