- - - - It is a box with a pinhole in the middle on 1 side and a translucent screen on the opposite side to the pinhole. The walls except the pinhole and the screen are opaque and generally black.
  - - - Light enters the pinhole as shown in the picture. The image is inverted because the bottommost ray of light falls on the top of the screen and vice versa. The rays from the middle of the candle fall on the screen in a similar fashion forming the image on the screen as shown in the picture. We can see the image from the transluscent side
