Rejoicing In Christ
1. In the Beginning

God spoke to humans through the Word, who is the Son of God.
2. Behold the Man!

"...he (Son of God) emptied himself, humbling himself to be God with us in the form of a baby" (p. 33)
"The Image of God would come to show us what it means to be in the image of God, and remold us into what we were created to be" (p. 35)
We are corrupt and guilty because of Adam's sin, but Christ gives us rebirth into a family that is not corrupted by sin
"Now here's the wonder of the Son of Man: the loving relationship that the Son has always enjoyed with his Father he now brings us" (p.52)
3. There and Back Again

"Out of sheer and boundless love for his Bride, he took her sicknesses upon himself, with all the consequences of her sin. He took her ugliness that she might have his loveliness" (p. 58)
"We have a new identity in Christ: we died with him; and now where he is in newness of life, there we shall be also" (p. 63)
-
-
"In the ascension, Christ was serving as the true high priest, taking the actual blood of his own sacrifice to the very throne of God" (p. 77)
4. Life in Christ
"Jesus had become one of us, but now by the Spirit he would wonderfully become one with us" (p. 83)
"Then you cannot separate salvation and Christian living--or justification and sanctification--for both are about him, and he cannot be sliced up" (p. 86)
-
"I begin to enjoy holiness and hate sin because I enjoy him and hate what stands against him in all his goodness, truth and beauty" (p. 89)
"Life, righteousness, holiness and redemption are found in Jesus, and found by those--and only those!--who look to him" (p. 101)
5. Come, Lord Jesus!
-
-
"The earth-shaking power of the Lamb does not mean that the humble friend of sinners has changed in his character; it is rather that his cause, his character, his light is victorious" (p. 111)
We are encompassed by Christ in the past, present, and future.
