If we treat life as precious, we will not want to waste our life in prison and therefore will not commit crimes

instead of asking how we will deal with violent people, we should ask how we deal with inequalities and get people the resources they need
although closing prisons may seem dramatic, we once used to burn people alive or hang them as punishment. That is now seen as unacceptable, so in the future it may be seen as prisons being unacceptable

Although the death sentence is being removed from a lot of states, it is being replaced with life without parole, which some see as choosing one cruelty over another

Educating the police on different cultures and religions could help officers how to address prisoners

Showing prisoners how offending can be perhaps a factor of things, may cause them to look at themselves

Death penalty
Prisons are too full to accommodate every prisoner, the higher profile prisoners that are at higher risk of reoffending and cannot be rehabilitated may have to face death penalty

Defunding the police

we spend more money on prisons/police (around 50%) than anything else (education, social care, the environment) and it is not improving public life
young people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness and have tried to access help services have been turned away due to funding/resources
