Democratic Values
Respect
Treating each other with consideration and valuing their views, beliefs, and rights
Equality
Rights and privileges for all, without discriminations based on gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation, or level of education. All citizens have the right to the same opportunities
Fairness
All people are treated fairly, or without injustice, and are given an equal opportunity
Freedom
Rights, privileges, and responsibilities for all without interference, or control from other citizens or governments
Justice
People should treat each other in a manner in a way that is affair and balanced for all other people

Participation
Good citizens contribute or take part in society through activities such as voting in an election or referendum, serving on a jury, or paying taxes
Citizens who participate reap the rewards of living in a society where elected members of parliament seek to represent their views, those who break the law are treated fairly, and the services that we can all use, such as schools or roadA
Laws / Courts
Civil Law
Civil law are cases such as contract cases, rights cases, e.c.t.
Criminal Law
Criminal law are cases such as assualt, murder, theft, e.c.t.
Common Law
Common laws are laws made by a judge or jury in court, either because the law doesn't exist, or the existing law is not clear
Statutory Law
Statutory Laws are made in parliment and are suggested by people in the house of representatives or the community, and are taken through the houses to be voted upon

Trial by media
Media can spread information quickly in a way that can create the impression of a person’s guilt before they have been to court
A key principle is that the accused is innocent until proven guilty, but members of a jury may be biased and think a suspect is guilty because of what they have seen and heard in social media

Delays may occur to many reasons, including:

Delays can increase costs, causing emotional stress and hardships, and reducing witness abilities to accurately recall their evidence
Sometimes people have to abandon civil cases because they cannot afford to pay the money to the legal system requires
Democracy
A system of government made by the people, for the people

The westminster System
Consisting of two chambers or houses, that is elected by the people to make laws on their behalf. Citizens vote for members of the parliament in free and fair elections and all laws must be passed by a majority of representatives in both houses
A soverign
To act as the Head of State and hold various powers including being required to give final approval to all laws made by the parliament. The sovereign or Crown also has a ceremonial role, including representing the country at national and international events
