Tea Cake = Pear Tree Janie's pear tree represent her personality and her love life and womenhood. Tea Cake made Janie feel like a women and made her feel like a women

"Then Tea Cake came prancing around her where she and the song of the sigh flew out of the window and lit in the top of the pine trees..Of course he wasn't dead. He could never be dead until she herself had finished feeling and thinking" (Hurston 193)
In chapter 18 Tea cake and Janie were headed to the bridge while on the way the were taking a break and Janie jump back in the lake without Tea cake and a dog was finna bite her but Tea cake saved her and the dog bit Tea Cake.(Hurston 166)
