Intellectual Disability
Definition
A person experiences significant subaverage functioning which exists along with adaptive behavior limitations that presented themselves in the developmental period. The child's educational performance is adversely affected.
Criteria

Evidence that the disability affects the child's educational performance. (Achievement scores at least one standard deviation below the mean.)

Determine if any environmental, cultural, language, or economic differences may have interfered or led to a biased test. If one or more concern is noted, a non-traditional IQ test may be administered.
