What is Gender?
-
-
Gender is fluid, as it is a social construct. An individual can identify as whichever gender they want.
Gender is what people are referred to in relation to their sex. Men are usually male, and women are usually female. The term refers to the social aspect of sex, and it is what you identify as socially.
Pronouns: What people use to identify themselves instead of their name. My pronouns are he/him/his because I am a male who identifies as a man. Other pronouns are she/her/hers and they/them/theirs. The they/them/theirs pronouns are used by those who don't feel that they identify with a certain gender; They are gender non binary.
Neopronouns: An extension of regular pronouns, neopronouns are used in place of the current pronouns. Examples of these can be xe/xem/xyrs or ze/zie/hirs. Neopronouns are used for the same reason people use they/them/theirs pronouns: they don't feel comfortable using other pronouns.
