this punished Germany by giving them the war guilt, making them pay £6.6 billion in repartitions, reducing their army to 100,000 men, taking away there tanks, submarines and planes, taking all there overseas colonies, demilitarising the Rhineland and forbidding them for uniting with Austria. the Germans were outraged. the called the treaty a 'diktat' and accused the Weimar government of stabbing them in the back.
