why are some countries more developed than others?
lack of resources
if the country doesn't have anything valuable it will make it a lot harder to make the country rich and developed.
population and health
health care is better in more developed countries. Some countries dont have the money to spend on good health care meaning they could have a lower life expectancy.
some countries can have more natural resources within them that are valuable.
for example Saudi Arabia has a lot of oil which has made all of the countries around it very rich.
Floods, droughts and tectonic activity can limit future growth and destroy buildings and agricultural areas. This also means a country may divert income to help recover from these events.
if the country is very hot and dry it will make farming and growing crops very challenging.
fro example Chad is becoming increasingly hot and arid which means lower crop yields.
countries that were colonised are often less developed than if they had not been colonised such as malaria and yellow fever, because of the hot and humid conditions. Having to tackle diseases can set a country back a lot in development.
Civil war and conflict can corrupt a country very quickly , it costs a lot of money to go to war really setting back countries in their development.
Leading on to that point govorments could choose to spend their money on funding war items and weapons instead of for example healthcare.
Leading on to poor climate their are diseases that thrive in tropical climate
countries with poor trade links wont be able to take advantages of other countries goods and make money.
If a country has a lot of tourists that are spending money in that country thery could help it get richer and more developed.
LEDCs have to compete with each other to win the trade which lowers the prices farmers get. A poor harvest means less income
