Definition: Infection of the skin around fingernails and toenails.

Educate clients about appropriate methods of disinfecting
Encourage intake of protein-rich and calorie-rich foods
Perform hand hygiene before having contact with the patient and after touching the patient

Nurse should maintain strict asepsis for dressing and wound care
Encourage increase in the fluid intake
Teach clients about the importance of avoiding contacts with others
Administer medication as prescribed by the doctor
