Human Behavior
Identity
Identity that comes with religion or being a part of a group can make people do crazy things out of loyalty and blind trust.
Many Cult leaders would identify themselves descended from god or newborn Jesus and savior. It convinced the people to follow them and become brainwashed.
Fear
Some cult leaders used fear to keep their followers. As cults progress and regress, people started to realize that they didn't want to be there, so the leaders would threaten them and make them fearful. "Fearful Submission"
Fear may have caused obedience or following. Hitler was obviously a crazy man and people would follow him on account of fear, and what he would do to people who don't.
Hate
The KKK would "hate" the blacks. They would perform hate crimes like lynching them and looking at them as animals.
Hate crimes were performed against the Jews. They prejudiced them during the holocaust and the Nazi's supposedly hated them.
Steryotyping
Some stereotypes resulted from how Jews were treated. They initially only worked at banks giving them a title as greedy.
In one passage we read, Indians were said to be warriors in war. The guy stereotyped somewhat changed the way he acted to fit the stereotype.
Anti-semitism
Jewish people were always prejudiced or stereotyped. It all came from when the Nazi's stained relationship against them. They would be against Jews and other smaller religions for arguable reasons.
An example of this is the holocaust when the Nazis segregated against the Jews. There was no valid evidence they were bad, they just assumed Jews are unwanted.
Discrimination
An example of discrimination is in the past people putting "no blacks wanted" and "Irish need not apply" signs on the fronts of there business to keep those specific groups out
The Germans started discriminating the Jews right after WWI as a result of the government feeding the idea of the downfall of the nation as being the Jews fault.
Obedience
During the Milgram experiment, subjects would listen to him because of authority. They even "hurt " the victim if told to do so. They were told their health was not in their hands, so some people would hit them with highest voltage of shock.
Cult leaders would use methods like making someone feel important to control them. They had authority over all the people so they would all follow his orders, no matter how severe.
