Pronouns and Antecedents
Rule # 1 :fire:
:star: A phrase or a clause between the subject and verb does not change the number of the antecedent.
:smiley: The student, as well as the committee members, is excited.
Rule # 2 : :fire:

Singular indefinite pronoun antecedents must be used with singular pronouns.
Plural indefinite pronoun antecedents must be used with plural pronouns.

Singular Neither of the men looked as if he wanted the job.
Plural:Both do a good job in their office.

Rule # 4 :fire:
:star: If a compound subject is joined by or /nor the pronoun needs to agree with the antecedent closest to the pronoun.

: :star: Some nouns which name groups can be either singular or plural, depending upon their meaning in individual sentences.

Singular The class is meeting in its scheduled room today.
Plural:The class must turn in their assignments by Monday.
