Obedience
"compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another's authority."
Cult leaders obtain blind obedience, as many people will follow their leader without any second thought.
The Milgram experiment is an example of blind obedience when people are told to do something and follow orders even if they go against one's morals/sense of right and wrong.
Charles Mansen was able to gain control over the girls and he used them and eventually used them to commit murder for him.
Charles Manson gained obedience from his followers by pretending he could give them whatever it was they were missing, he also claimed to have prophetic visions which then leads the followers to think he truly was in someway aligned in some way with a form of divine justice, another reason they were obedient to Charles.
People of high power gain more and more control by gaining obedient followers who will obey their any command without any second thought
People often obey rules and laws without thinking, just because they are often put in place by people of high standings, as well as their title of being a rule or law means that they must be followed.
People often do not question these laws and rules and obey them without thinking. This is called blind obedience, and it is used by people with high power to gain controll.
Fear: a feeling of distress, apprehension, or alarm caused by impending danger or pain
Many dictators used fear to their advantage against the victims. They did this by scaring them and threatening them so they do as told.
Hitler used fear against the people to control millions and make them do whatever he said. He was very intimidating towards the people and everyone was terrified of him and what he was capable of doing.
When the victims were being punished, no one would step put of line or disrespect because they were scared. That is how all these dictators and killers controlled people.
Some members of cults feared what the leader would do if they attempted to leave (example the people at Jonestown feared telling Jim Jones they wanted to leave so they wrote a note to officials)

Hate/Racism
-
The biggest examples of racism was the Holocaust. Hitler and the Nazis killed so many innocent people for no reason other than because they were Jewish. He felt that since he was superior he should kill them which is cruel and wrong.
