Reproduction, Flower, Ovum (egg) - female sex cells, Sperm - male sex…
Reproduction
Asexual reproduction - Involving one organism
Single celled organisms - made up of only one cell
Bacteria - a one cell organism
Body cell - what is inside your body
cellular differentiation - same genetic information but different functions, based on the proteins they produce
Mitosis - a means of reproduction where the 2 offspring, called clones, are exact copies of the parent cell
Prokaryotic - don't have a nucleus
Eukaryotic - have a nucleus
Sexual reproduction - Involving two organisms
Meiosis - the process of creating sex cells
Both of these are methods for reproduction of cells
A cell divides into four during this process, leaving each new cell with half of the parents genetic code (the two terms describe the same thing)
Interphase - All the DNA is replicated
Prophase - Chromosomes condense
Metaphase - Chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell
Anaphase - Homologous chromosomes move to opposite ends of the cell
Telophase - 2 different cells are formed
Cytokinesis - 4 cells are formed after a repetition of the steps below
Crossing over
Homologous chromosomes
Gametogenesis - literally "the creation of sex cells
Gamete - an organism's sex cells
Multicellular organisms - made of more than one cell
External fertilization - when the egg and the sperm meet outside the organism
Coral
The coral releases its gametes into the water, where a pair will eventually meet to create the offspring
Internal fertilization - when the egg and the sperm meet inside the organism
Human
Chicken
Human reproduction
Male
Testis - where sperm is produced
Vas Derens - where the sperm travels through during ejaculation
Prostate Gland
Penis
Urethra
Epididymus - after the Testis
Female
Ovary - an organ in which the egg matures
Fallopian tubes - the tubes through which the egg travels
Uterus - where egg travels through and remains if impregnated
Uterine lining
Cervix
Vagina
Urethra
