C4 : NEWTON'S LAWS OF MOTION
4.1 :Force
An object at rest needs a force to get it moving
;
a moving object needs a FORCE TO CHANGE ITS VELOCITY
Force
:
Vector
4.8 : Problem Solving - A general approach
4.3 : Mass
Measure of Inertia of an object
, measured in kg
4.5 : Newton's Third Law of Motion
Every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction. In other words, if object A exerts a force on object B, then object B also exerts an equal force on object A
4.2 : Newton's First Law of Motion
Newton's first law states that every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force.
This is normally taken as the definition of inertia.
4.4 : Newton's Second Law of Motion
The velocity of an object changes when it is subjected to an external force. The law defines a force to be equal to mass time acceleration
F
=
m*a
4.7 : Solving Problems with Newton's Law

4.6 : Weight
Weight is the force exerted on that object by gravity
7) Keep track of dimension
6) Solve the problem without putting any numbers , once done , put the numbers
5) Estimate the answer
4) List the unknown quantities and find the relationships
3) Choose a convenient coordinate system
2) Sketch the free body diagram
1) Read the question carefully
