The problem with most people is their inability to give up some habit that leaves a great carbon footprint. If you have to do that, then you should AT LEAST rebalance by avoiding unnecessary impact or exploiting every bit of energy you use to its fullest. For example, you can't stand the summer heat? Air conditioning greatly impacts on global warming, so try to keep windows closed for a while after turning it off, in order to keep the cold air in; then, when winter comes, never turn on the heat, it's the least necessary energy usage; if you're cold, just put on an extra sweater or an extra blanket or something, because you can keep yourself warm without using energy, but you can't do it the other way around; then find various ways to use the same amount of energy for multiple purposes, and repurpose some energy usage that would otherwise go to waste, and always rebalance any excess usage that feels unavoidable.
