Caused by T. Rubrum, T mentagrophytes &epidermophyton
Non-Dermatophyte causes includes
Scytalidium dimadiatum, stcytalidium hyalinum and candida species
Using keratinases( enzymes)
Dermatophyte fungi invade superficial keratin of skin
Infection remains limited to the layer
Dermatophytes cell walls contain mannas,
Which inhibits body's immune response
