Transportation Pre-Assessment
Level: Kindergarten
Intermediate
(Student's understanding of theme, concepts, content, and vocabulary is on track. Minor review and practice is needed. Work is split between independent work, and teacher directed/observed work.)
Advanced
(Students show an advanced understanding of concepts and vocabulary and would benefit from extension. Independent group work is acceptable.)
Discovery Stations
Students will move between four different stations. Photo (pictures of transportation, and transportation spaces), Video (videos of transportation), Sound (transportation sounds), Tactile (a mystery box with toy cars, planes etc.).

Students will work together while playing an online transportation game.

Students will verbally reflect on what they did and saw.
Verb and Prepositions Extension
Using word cards students will complete sentences with the correct verbs and prepositions. e.g. "We can ride in a car." "We can row a boat."
Assessment
Students will write their completed sentences in a sentences journal to be checked by me later.
Pre-assessment
Students take pre-assessment again to see what they have learned over the course of differentiated instruction.

(Student's are displaying a limited understanding of content. They would benefit from teacher directed group work, and one on one work.)

Show students picture flashcards. Have students repeat the word. Then identify the picture on their own. Repeat with written word identification flashcards.

Transportation Sorting
Working as a group and facilitated by the teacher students will take turning over transportation pictures and attempting to match them. Student will say the name of the transportation as they flip it.

Once the students complete the activity as a group the instructor will have them do it alone to assess individual skills.

Using cards students will work in pairs to match the correct transportation word to its picture.

The activity is a formative assessment. An assistant teacher will let them know once they have matched all pairs.

Working in pairs student will sort transportation pictures into their correct categories "land, air, water".

The activity is a formative assessment. Once the students have successfully completed all cards myself or an assistant teacher will let them know.
