SPOROTRICHOSIS
DEFINITION
Infection of the skin caused by fungus, sporothrix schenckile

T he mold is found on the rose thorns, sphagnum moss twigs and soil
SYMPTOMS

Pneumonia in rare cases ( Charles patrick Davis, MD.PhD)

pneumonia can cause symptoms like shortness of breath, fever and cough
PREVENTIONS

Wear protective clothing such as gloves and long sleeves when handling wires, rose, bale of hay

DIAGNOSIS
Medical doctors, will obtain swab or biopsy of the infected site

CAUSES

The fungus live through out the soil and on plant matters such as sphagnum moss, rose bushes and hay

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
Sporotrichosis is a subacute or chronic infectioncaused by the saprophytic dimorphic fungus sporothrix schenckii.
The charasteristic infection involves supparating subcutaneous nodules that progress proximally along lymphatic channels (lymphocutaneaous sporotrichosis)
The pulmonary infection (pulmonary sporotrichosis) is rare as it direct inoculation into tendons, bursae or joints (Nelson ivon agudelo Higuita, MD: ccief editors: Prahatharthi Haran chandrasekar, MBBS)
