without gravity on earth we would float away

earth's moon also has gravity but not as much as earth that's why astronauts on the moon walked with big floaty steps

there is a huge amount of water on earth

over 70% percent of earth is covered with water

why is the sea salty

lots of salt from the sea used to come from rocks on land

the water runs over the rocks & takes the salt into the water making the sea more salty

the dead sea is so salty that you can float without even trying

most of earth's water has salt in it

Antarctica is the driest place on earth

Antarctica's dry valleys are so cold that nothing can survive there

the Sahara and the Atacama desert are very hot

even though the Atacama desert is hot animals still live there

water can slowly break down rock over time

dunes

sand grains are hard cause they used to be rock

low hills of sand are called dunes

wind can move sand dunes

why is the sky blue

at evening the sunset looks like pink, red, and orange

the color of the sky is all the colors of the rainbow and just sheds the blue color

when it rains the sun's light shines through the raindrops

at sunset, the sun only shows the hot colors

thunderstorms happen a lot in summer and spring

lightning doesn't often hit the ground

lightning usually hits trees and buildings

thunder is a sound that rumbles a lot

warm air goes up

cold air goes down

lots of earths winds come in from the sea

the fire in hot air balloons is hot which makes it go up

lava is what they call magma above ground

lava is very hot
