signs/symptoms:
-PE may be first clinical sign
-clinical signs are nonspecific, need diagnostic study to confirm
-classic presentation: pleuritic chest pain and dyspnea (40%)
-may present with cough, diaphoresis, apprehension, AMS, tachypnea, hemoptysis, tachycardia (most common finding (85%), rales, fever, bulging neck vein (30%), and pleural friction rub
-massive PE may present as syncope or sudden death
