Over the past few years gender based violence in South Africa and Malawi have increased majorly, especially with the help of the pandemic. Malawi especially is considered a transit country for human trafficking in connection with victims from South Africa, Kuwait, Tanzania, Mozambique, etc. Trafficking victims in Malawi are often made to work on farms, basically as slaves and earn nothing. Others are sexually exploited. Over the past two years, UNODC with the support of the UK have strengthened national strategies, and have brought in legal framework to decrease trafficking as a whole
