Each taifa included a main city and its surrounding territory and was dominated by one ethnic group.

1085 Alfonso VI of León conquered Toledo
The Almoravids (1085-1144)
Almoravids --> Nomadic Berbers, had formed large empire in North africa. Capital Marrakech
1086: Entered the peninsula, defeated the army
of Alfonso VI of León-Battle of Sagrajas
After conquest of Toledo, Taifas asked aid to almoravids.
Imposed their rule over Al-Andalus, incorporated to their afican empire.
1145: They disintegrated in what was called the second taifa period.
Implemented strong religious radicalism, persecute Mozarabs and Arabs.
The Almohads (1147-1224)
Almohads replaced the Almoravids in North Africa.
1172: Rule The Andalusi/Implemented a greater religious radicalism
At 1195 halted the Christisn conquest when they defeated Alfonso VIII of Castilla at Alarcos.
1212: Defeated Battle Las Navas de Tolosa
1224: al-Andalus collapsed into the third taifa period, they were progressively conquered by the Christians.
1238-1492: The Andalusi territory was reduced to the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada.
1147: Conquer Marrakech
