Olympics
Artistic Gymnastics
Artistic gymnastics has been part of the Olympic programme since the first modern Games of Athens 1896. Initially for men only, women's events were included from Amsterdam 1928.
Male gymnasts compete in six medal events: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar.
Each piece of apparatus makes unique demands on the athlete, testing their strength, agility, coordination, speed and stamina.
In the women's division, there are four medal events: vault, uneven bars, beam and floor. Men and women also compete for individual and team all-around titles.
Judges mark each athlete on the complexity and aesthetics of their executed techniques while considering other aspects such as balance and stability.
Women's floor routines are performed to musical accompaniment, adding an additional dimension to the competition.

Swimming is one of the traditional disciplines of the modern Olympic Games, carried out since the inaugural edition in Athens 1896. Currently it consists of 17 events for men and as many for women. Women competed for the first time in 1912.
Originally, swimming events were held in the sea or an artificial lake. In 1908 the tests were carried out in the pool. In 1924 the lanes were incorporated, as well as the Olympic length of 50 meters. The butterfly style was allowed in chest tests, until independent events were created in 1956. The first lenses were allowed in 1976.
