Are the deaths/casualties close, if so why, if not what are some reasons for this?: They are very different from the German Peasant's war claiming between 100,000 to 300,000 lives while the Taiping Rebellion killing an estimated 20,000, people. This is likely so different because the German peasant's war was fought in parts of southern and western Germany and only peasants and the government were involved. It also only lasted one year. While in the Taiping rebellion millions of followers and all the army of China fought and went on for 14 years.
