autotrophs
producers photosyntetic organism such as plants or algae, such as organism living hydrothermal vents
heterotrophs
consumers organism that consume autotrophs, those that feed on living tissue

-
-
Trophic structure:
The way in which organisms are organized within the ecosystem according to the type of food they consume.
-
-
Decomposition rate.
The velocity in which the material produced by an organism is decomposed into smaller chemical components.
-
-
Energy
capacity to do a certain job, which can be measured as a caloric energy, like the one emanated from a stove; chemical energy
-
Producers
they occupy the first trophic level. They are photosynthetic and chemosynthetic autotrophic organisms
-
-
-
-
Pyramid of mass.
Depicts the amount of living matter on each trophic level, measured in kilograms or calories.
-
Matter flow velocity and movement pattern: speed and path taken by all chemical elements, such as carbon, nitrogen, and others.
-
First Law of Thermodynamics: “Energy can be neither created nor destroyed, it can only be transformed”.
