My opinion is that he was evil, that why he was victimised by others.

Shylock was victimized as he was discriminated against on a daily basis and had suffered many losses by the end. He is evil as he denies getting twice the sum so that he can get a chance for revenge.

Shylock was victimised, as everybody was teaming against him in order for him to loose the court case. He would have been mistreated and discriminated against for being a Jew, therefore, explaining his hate for Christians. He was even forced to accept Christianity in the end.

I think Shylock was evil and was victimised as well. But my final opinion would remain with evil more as I think that humanity should be considered before in this situation
Reasons for Shylock being Evil
He wished for a Death Sentence instead of giving his Son - In - Law and Daughter some money.
When Portia was stating points in favour of Shylock, he acted very bloodthirsty
Him requiring the flesh of Antonio
He thought as other religions like Christianity was lower than that of the Jews
Reasons possible for Shylock being victimised
He was not granted his money even when he said that he will not kill Antonio
Portia impersonated a judge to help, Antonio, but that is illegal.
It was Antonio who accepted the contract and according to the law at that time, whatever was written in the contract and was accepted was to be done
He was forced to become a Christian :
