Forces
Types of Force
-
-
Non contact don't touch e.g magnetis,
-
-
-
-
Springs
-
As long as spring is not deformed, relationship between Force and extension will be linear
-
-
-
-
NEWTONS THREE LAWS
FIRST
IF resultant force is zero, if an object is stationary it will remain stationary, if it is moving its veocity will not change
-
SECOND
Acceleration is proportional to the force acting on the object and inversely proportional to the mass of the object
-
-
THIRD
A force acts on an object, the object gives back on equal and opposite force
-
Momentum
Conservation of momentum
In a closed system, the total momentum beofre an event is ewual to the total momentum after
Momentum, = mass x velocity
When a force acts on an object that is moving, or able to move, a
change in momentum occurs.
-
Waves
-
-
-
-
Earthquakes
P Waves are longitudinal and move things up and down,.
-
Black bodies
-
Emits more infrared radiation, the hotter the body is
-
Visible light
-
If all colours are relected equally it appears white, absorbed equally appears black
If it appears red, then all other colours have been absorbed except the red spectrum
-
Electromagnectic waves
Apllicationm pf Em waves
-
• microwaves – satellite communications, cooking food
• infrared – electrical heaters, cooking food, infrared cameras
-
• ultraviolet – energy efficient lamps, sun tanning
-
Properties of EM waves
-
-
-
-
Ultraviolet waves, X-rays and gamma ray, radiation dose measured in in sievert
-
Space Physics
Starts as nebula, cloud of gas and dust
-
-
Red Shift
wavelength of light from distant galaxies, the furhter away the galaxies, the faster they are which spreads the wavelenth more which shifts it towards red side of spectrum
