Far eastern games was first mooted in 1912 between empire of Japan, the Phillipine Islands and China
Second time held, the name changed to the Far Eastern Championship Games.
In 1934, ten games been held bi-annually,in Japan,China and Phillipine.
Games scheduled for 1938 was cancelled due to the second World War and the organization was discontinued.
Indians Prime Minister, Jawahalal Nehru, proposed an Asian Sports meet in 1947 between Asian countries.

They agreed to form the Asian Athletes Federation and hold the first Asian Athletic Championship In New Delhi, India in 1949
Asian Amateur Athletic Federation was formally form in February,1949.

Disbanded on 26 November 1981,New Delhi and replaced Olympic Council of Asia.

Crises
In 1962, Indonesia refused to permit the participation of Israel and the republic of China due to political and religious issues.
In 1970, South Korea plan to host the Games due to financial crisis.
In 1978, Pakistan plan to host the Games in 1975 due to financial crisis and political issues.
Reorganization
National Olympic Committee in Asia decided to revise the constitution of Asian Games Federation(AGF)
