        The group will debate the pros and cons of community and the teacher will note understanding and student learning on a graphic organizer. Regular quizzes to assess students knowledge. Nearpod app collects scores and collates reports

        Activity: The students will build a small community using play dough. Key questions and instructions: "Show me what you think a community looks like", "What makes up a community?" (they may say people, businesses) once finished the group will need to individually name aspects that they have built to make up a community, like a Show & Tell.
        
        Track and monitor learning
        
        Sharing their learning through Show and Tell through reflection-the teacher will take notes on students learning. Quizzes through Near pod app collects scores and collates reports.
- - - - Pre-teach Vocabulary: Present flash cards of picture elements of a community with the word at the bottom of the card.
        Students will repeat after the teacher has said the word one flash card at a time. This will be repeated twice. Then there will be a card match game, where there are cards with pictures and words separately. The students will match the correct word with the picture they see and read the word out. For the most struggling reader the teacher will say the word as the student looks at the word card, so that they can make a connection between visual and auditory aspects of the word. For ELL's, a translation of the word will be next to the English word. Scaffolding will also help ELL's.
        
        Track and monitor learning
        
        Struggling Readers and ELL's make a list of the keywords they learned from the lesson. This is a good way to access students vocabulary knowledge of the lesson. The list is kept in the students assessment file and students can look back at it as a resource. Exit ticket in English and Native Language translation.

        Special needs students can draw a picture of their learning, then the teacher will ask questions about their drawing. The drawing with teachers notes on the back will be kept in the students assessment file. A teacher aid observes the students progress and notes milestones that have been/not been achieved.
