Data Communications
Telecommunication: Communication at a distance.
Data Communication: The exchange of data
(in the forms of 0s and 1s)
between two devices via some form of transmission medium such as a wire cable.

: Information to be communicated (Ex: text, numbers, pictures, sound or video)
Sender
: Device that sends the message (Ex: computer, telephone, video camera)
Receiver
: Device that receives the message (Ex: computer, telephone, video camera)
Medium
: Physical path by which a message travels (Ex: twisted pair, fiber optic, laser or radio waves)
Protocol
: A set of rules govern data communication (Ex: represent an agreement between the communicating devices)

Definition:
Is a set of devices (often refer as nodes) connected by communication links.
A node can be a computer, printer or any devices that is capable of sending or receiving data generated by other nodes on the network.
