ANHIDROSIS
DEFINITION
It is when a person can not sweat when they are feeling hot referred as absence of sweating.

CAUSES
"Trauma to nerves that control sweating.
Conditions of the skin or skin damage that involves severe burns or leprosy.
SYMPTOMS
Lack of sweating when its hot.
Dizziness and weakness.
Flushing.
Being sensitive to heat because you are unable to cool down.

DIAGNOSIS
QUANTITATIVE SUDOMOTOR AXON RELEX TEST
- assess autonomic nerves.
SILASTIC SWEAT IMPRINT TEST
- using electrodes to stimulate sweat glands.
THERMOREGULATORY SWEAT TEST
- measure the production of sweat.

RISK FACTORS
GENETIC MUTATIONS
- can result in abnormalities causing a dysfunction to sweat glands.
DIABETES
- can lead to sweat glands being abnormal.
SKIN CONDITIONS
- associated with psoriasis and certain rashes can lead to anhidrosis.

Tricyclic antidepressants.
Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.

GINGER SUPPLEMENTS
- assists with blood flow circulation, stimulates sweating.
BAKING SODA
- increases sweat production increasing blood flow.
CUCUMBER JUICE
- increases hydration thereby increasing sweat production.

NURSING CARE PLAN
Place the patient in an air conditioned room.
Sponge the patient with a towel using cool water.
Place a fan next to the patient for air circulation.
Provide the patient with fluids that care cool and avoid hot beverages.
