Improvements
Close some surf clubs (big clubs getting bigger, struggling ones always struggling) - consider distribution of membership, reduce duplication of work
Duplication of work across clubs/branches/states - better use our resources (greater collaboration, increased use of skills and expertise) - sometimes caused by a lack of trust
Managing turnover of the execs at a club level (continuity of service, change management, knowledge management) - succession planning
Broader identity / goals for clubs - not just a "sport" club - how do we get a focus on all aspects of SLS - links to diversity - different members with different interests/skills
Competition between clubs (for members, funding etc.) drives duplication of effort and 'blame game'

Internal communication - effectiveness depends on club, branch and state, linked to role clarity and also to capacity and preference of entity - doesn't always get to the member

There always appears to be one level too many in the structure - some clubs don't need a branch and some don't need state
Communication is not targeted enough - volume is off-putting, email addresses aren't always updated on distribution lists

Bringing the branches closer to the state - better defining the working relationship OR go alone with the clubs
Clarity of what is in scope / out of scope - better manage expectations of members (e.g. inclusion, diversity) - not do everything all at once

Increased population and people visiting quieter beaches - how do we expand patrols / do we need new "clubs" - pop up clubs

Leadership - right people in the right roles to make this happen - state leadership (filters from the top down)
Digital / social space - how we present ourselves (professional and consistent) - design, video etc.
