Enveloped RNA Viruses
Dengue Fever Virus (DENV) 登革熱
~Transmitted: mosquitoes, Mosquito infected with DENV
~Inject注入 the viruses into the blood + taking a blood meal
Viruses multiply on lipid脂質 droplets in monocytes單核細胞 and macrophages巨噬細胞
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)
~Transmission:Blood, body fluid, Sexual transmission, Maternal-fetal母嬰 transmission
SARS Coronvirus (SARS-CoV)
~Transmission:
- direct contact (close person-to-person contact)
- indirect contact (contacted the objects contaminated with SARS-CoV), e.g.coughing or sneezing
Human Hmmunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
~Reservoirs: Infected humans
~HIV first invades入侵 dendritic cells樹突狀細胞 in the genital生殖器 and oral mucosa口腔粘膜-> the HIV invaded cells then fuse融合 with lymphocytes-> spread擴散 to deeper tissues
~Transmitted:
1.Via direct sexual contact (Homosexual or heterosexual)
2.Sharing of contaminated needles and syringes by intravenous drug abusers
3.Transfusion of contaminated blood and blood products
4.From mother to fetus
5.Breast-feeding by HIV-infected mothers
6.Transplantation of HIV-infected tissues or organs
7.Needlestick, scalpel, and broken glass injuries
Rubella Virus
~Rubella (German measles) Single-stranded, enveloped RNA virus
~Transmission: By airborne droplets and direct contact with respiratory secretions
- Measles virus (Single-stranded, enveloped RNA virus)
~Transmission:
- airborne
- droplet transmission.
- Through coughing and sneezing
- Close personal contact with infected nasal or throat secretions
- More than 15 minutes in direct contact with the infected
Mumps Virus (Single-stranded, enveloped RNA virus) enters the body via the respiratory tract
Transmission: 1.direct contact with respiratory secretions or saliva 2.Through fomites
Ebola virus
Transmitted:
1.blood and body fluid
2.direct contact with the blood and / or secretions of an infected person or animal
3.contact with contaminated objects, such as needles
Enveloped DNA Viruses: Herpesviridae (Basic Virology P12,P15,P17,P25,P28)
Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV 1)
~Transmission:
Contact with secretions of lesions which contain the virus
~Site of infection:
On the face, oropharyngeal口咽的 area, occur發生 in eyes and spread to the central nervous system (CNS) ->encephalitis腦炎
Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV)
~Reservoirs:
Infected human->varicella水痘 (chickenpox)
A causal agent of herpes zoster (shingles)帶狀皰疹
Primary infection ->chickenpox
*Predominantly a childhood disease
水痘->水泡(入面的水毒性最高)
Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV 2)
~Transmission:
By contact with secretions of lesions which contain the virus
~Site of infection:
Primarily causes infections in the genital tract 產道感染
Cytomegalovirus (CMV)
~Signs and symptoms of infection: Usually no symptoms
~Virus can be shed in most body fluids, including tears
~Pregnant woman acquires CMV for the first time in pregnancy-> Transmit to fetus and can result in fetal death
Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV)
The first human virus associated with malignancy
~Spread: person to person via saliva唾液 or by
saliva-contaminated受唾液污染的 objects
e.g. table utensils and drinking glasses
