INTERNATIONAL/GLOBAL LEVEL

NATIONAL LEVEL
-reviews the tourism development plans for a country as a whole
-often includes specific objectives for particular types of area within national boundary
-plans social and cultural macro development to integrate tourism planning into overall economic development
-to measure the economic impact of tourist activities
REGIONAL/LOCAL LEVEL
-often a state or province, or perhaps and island group
formulated within the framework of the national tourism policy and plan
more specific than the national level
For a small country, the national plan may be at the same level of detail as a reginal plan in a larger country
-small countries may not need both national & regional planning
SUBREGIONAL PLANNING
some countries or region is need for subregional planning
more specific than the reginal level
-The components of the subregional plan will depend on the situation of the subregion
typically would include tourist attraction features
