Exploring why the client is here or what the situation is
Exploring the client's strengths
Key 4- Assess the clients surroundings or levels
Assess their individual life style, their family dynamic, their outside groups, communities, and organizations they may belong to
Focus on the client's concerns
Believe what the client has to say
Avoid blaming the client
If the client says something offensive reply: that's interesting. Why would you say that?
Key 3- assess the whole person through the biopsychosocial model
Use all three components of this model in order to help you client with the problem/issue at hand
Consider all three aspects equally unless one is more helpful toward the client's problem
