Cell
Plasma Membrane
The cell structure that encloses the cell and regulates the pathway between the cell and its surrounding environment. It also aids in protection and support. Structure of cell membranes have a hydrophilic head. Cell membranes contain specific proteins. Integral proteins are embedded with the bilayer. Fluid Mosaic Model behaves like a fluid.
Cyptoplasm
Gel like material that fills the cell. In prokaryotic cells all the processes that keep the cell alive happen in the cytoplasm.
Cytoskeleton
Protein fibers used for structure. They are little tubes that are called microtubles which are long hollow protein cylinders. Microfilaments are thin protein threads.
Nucleus
Most functions of a eukaryotic cell are controlled by the nucleus. Contains chromosomes which are composed of dna. Nuclear envelope contains proteins lined nuclear pores that are passage ways of rna and other materials enter and exit the cell.
Mitochondria
Also, known as the powerhouse of the cell. Has its own dna. Sites of cellular respiration a process which supplies the cell with atp.
Ribosomes
Small and roughly spherical organelles that are responsible for making proteins. Ribosomes don't have a membrane
EndoPlasmic Reticulum
A complex entensive network thats transports materials throughout the inside of the cell. Two types: Rough er has ribosomes attached to the surface is ribosome studded. Smooth er has no attached.
-
Vesicle
Small round sacs that are surrounded by a single membrane. Lysosomes contain chemicals called enzymes necessary for digesting certain materials in the cell. Break down old worn out cell parts. They can break down macromolecules. They maintain health of organisms.

Cell Wall
Found in plants fungi and some bacteria. Cell structure that surrounds the cell membrane for protection and support. Allows for specific substances to pass in and out of the cell. Made of cellulose carbohydrates. Cell walls provide structural support for plants. Chloroplast contain green pigment called chlorophyll, it observes energy from the sun to convert carbon dioxide and water into sugar form.
Cillia short numerous projections that look like hairs. Flagella longer and less numerous than cillia create movement like a whiplike motiom.
