Importance:
They can help ease the suffering of others who are less privileged than them. They also stand up for the people who are discriminated.
Being an ally is an antidote to isolation for those targeted by oppression and those in the targeting role. It authorizes everyone involved. Communities need the voices, opinions and opinions of all & help of people from many different groups.
In the end, it is important to be an ally because it helps people with cruelty and with hard times, and that are struggling to find jobs and to find homes. So if you have an ally, you are very lucky.
Overall, each of our own struggles is tied to everyone else's. In order to live in the kind of communities we hope for as well as build a unity and a happy environment, we need to understand that we are all impacted when groups or people are not getting a fair deal or and don’t have their basic rights. We all want to live in communities that have a high moral standard this means that we should all take charge and speak up for others. This way we see change.
Personal Definition:
An allly is someone who supports you, when you're going through your toughest times.
An ally is someone with an open mind and heart who's willing to give in their all for others in need of help or support. Being an ally also requires believing & creating equality and fighting for what's right.
An ally is someone that knows their privilege and uses it to help others with oppression, they can be someone you trust.
An ally is someone that will stand up for people who he knows are less privileged than them and will help end oppression against them.
Formal definition:
An individual who speaks out and stands up for a group or a person that is targeted or discriminated against.
They work to end oppression by supporting and advocating for people who are discriminated against or treated unfairly.

A individual helps a person of color or a working class person to run for office, through encouragement, fund-raising, and direct campaigning.
A man tells his coworkers that he's no longer interested in telling or listening to any jokes that put down women.
Take action if you see anyone in your company being bullied or harassed. As easy as it sounds, put yourself in the conversation with a comment like 'Hi what are you guys discussing!?' and then take it from there and privately talk with the victim. This leads you to deciding if he/she wants you to speak up or just comfort them.
