Differentiation After Pre-Assessments
Some-Knowledge Students (12)
Assessments
Exit Tickets: A variety of questions before students leave can show what they learned throughout the day and preface future lesson understanding.
Journals: Students are to write about what new concepts they have learned and reflect on how these new skills might fit into real-world applications. It allows students to expand on their knowledge and it also allows ELL students to practice writing and grammar in the safety of their own notebook.
Differentiated Activities
Group Presentations: Putting students in groups allows them to play to each others strengths, and they will need to research extensively to prepare a presentation on a business concept which will drive comprehension throughout the groups.
Poster Creations: This activity allows the artistic students to show off their skills while demonstrating their comprehension of the concepts at hand. Students may be asked to create visual representations of things like 'scarce resources' and the 'process of earning profits'
Act-it-Out: Students are put into small groups and given business scenarios that they are to act out. This allows students to practice using the new vocabulary and see where it fits into real-world situations. It also allows ELL students to practice their language skills in smaller settings.

Assessments
Multiple Choice Quiz: Simplified answer choices allows the students to narrow their thinking process to apply their knowledge of economics and business terms
Answer Bank Assessment: This gives the students a broader choice of possibilities throughout their assessment (quiz or exit slip) while still keeping constraints on their completion process.
Video Reflections: This visual form of assessment can help ELL students see and hear the business scenarios that they are to assess.
Oral Quizzes: This gives students who have issues writing or expressing their understanding on paper the chance to speak to their knowledge of the unit.
Differentiated Activities
Flash Cards: Students review business terms and create color-coded flash cards
Video Explanations: Students have the chance to learn from other sources such as Kahn Academy and other YouTube channels. This gives a greater visual emphasis to learn and apply concepts.
Assisted Worksheets: Students are given worksheets with a list of websites and resources where they can find the answers. This allows them to find their own solutions to their issues when necessary.
Most-Knowledge Students (5)
Economic Analysis Game: Students enter a game where they are given economic data and they must think critically to make the right decisions and keep their business alive. This activity allows students move past the term definitions and analyze data-sets in a real-world application.
Coffee Stand Consumer Feedback: Students open a coffee stand and make decisions about how to spend their resources to stock their stand with the necessary materials. They manage their profits and resources to make the most money in a 14 day timeframe. (

Scenario Creations: Students create their own business situations where business owners must make critical decisions to provide the best experience for their consumer. They can switch scenarios with a partner and discuss the decisions and how they might effect the outcomes.
Unit Assessment: The final assessment tests students understanding of basic business terminology and the concepts and applications of economics and resource allocation.

Reflections: Students can reflect on more open-ended questions that tests their new understanding of business principles
Application Explanations: Similar to the Economic Analysis Game, students are presented with situations where they must make a business decision. Students state their final decision in each scenario and explain why they made each decision in the best interest of their company.
