Electron Transport Train & The Calvin Cycle - Coggle Diagram
Electron Transport Train & The Calvin Cycle
photosystems l & ll are connected by the electron transport train
as electrons are passed from PS ll to PS l, H+ ions are pumped across the membrane
after that, the inside of the thylakoid fills up with h+ ions
the h+ ions cannot cross the membrane directly without ATP synthase
as h+ ions diffuse through the ATP synthase ATP is produced
as an electron passes from ps ll to ps l through the etc produces atp
the energy of the electron is used to pump the h+ ions into the thylakoid space
this produces a concentration gradient
pigments in ps l use pigments to renergize electrons to go onto the next ps l. ps l doesn't create a concentration gradient.
calvin cycle
takes place in the stroma
doesn't require light
uses atp and nadph to build energy compounds that can be stored
phase 3 regeneration
the remaining three carbo are converted back into 5-carbon
6 ribulose 1, 5-biphosphate or RuBP
phase 1 carbon fixation
co2 molecules enter the cyclefrom the atmosphere-- throught the stromata. the enzyme rubisco combines KuBP w/ co2
phase 2 reduction phase
atp and nadph from the thylakoid 3-carbon molecules are formed called 3GP glyceraldehyde 3- phosphate
things that affect ptss
water
temperature
