This whole discovery was important because even if it was unexpected, they still found new lands, new discoveries, cultures, resources, etc. But apart from that, it brought wealth and more expansion to the Europeans. It made economical and political impacts all over the nation which changed their way of seeing things. And of course, it also ended an Era, to start a new one.
