CONTACT DERMATITIS
Definition
Contact dermatitis is a red, itchy rash caused by direct contact with a substance or an allergic reaction to it (Martin, Stefan F et al,2018) .
Pathophysiology
• The pathophysiology of allergic contact dermatitis starts with the contact of the allergen to the skin.

• The antigens subsequently undergo processing by these cells and get displayed on their surface (Martin, Stefan F et al,2018)
Clinical manifestation

• Itching, which may be severe
• Dry, cracked, scaly skin
• Bumps and blisters, sometimes with oozing and crusting (Martin, Stefan F et al,2018)
• Swelling, burning or tenderness
